Our Spring Coding Courses for Kids at Platform C Have Finished Successfully!

At codethatidea, we're dedicated to equipping young minds with the skills they need for the future. We are proud to announce that our recently completed spring coding courses at Platform C in Amstelveen were a great success, offering children an opportunity to dive into the world of programming with Scratch. We had two groups of eager learners: one tackling the basics (Level 1) and the other advancing their skills (Level 2). Through engaging lessons, brain exercises, and a focus on online safety, our courses provided a comprehensive learning experience that parents can trust.

students learning to code

Level 1: Building Strong Foundations

In our Level 1 course, children were introduced to the fundamental concepts of coding and mathematics. They explored loops, variables, conditionals, random numbers, and the coordinate system, gaining a solid understanding of how these elements work together. Through fun, hands-on projects, they learned to create simple animations, games and interactive stories. This foundational knowledge not only sparked their interest in coding but also enhanced their problem-solving and logical thinking skills.

Level 2: Mastering Advanced Concepts

For our students of previous Level 1 courses who had already mastered the basics, our Level 2 course offered a deeper dive into more complex coding techniques. Students learned to create their own functions and code blocks, which allowed them to write more efficient and reusable code. They also tackled the use of lists, nested loops, and other advanced concepts, creating more sophisticated projects. These young coders were challenged to think critically and creatively, developing skills that will serve them well in any future tech-related endeavors.

Online Safety and Digital Literacy

Online safety and digital literacy are crucial topics which we integrated into both levels. Children learned how to navigate the internet responsibly, recognize and avoid online dangers, and understand the significance of maintaining their privacy. We believe that equipping young learners with these skills is just as important as teaching them to code, ensuring they become savvy and safe digital citizens.

Brain Exercises: Enhancing Cognitive Abilities

To complement the coding curriculum, our courses included a variety of brain exercises designed to enhance cognitive abilities. These activities helped improve memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills, providing a well-rounded educational experience. By challenging their minds in different ways, we ensured that our students developed a balanced set of skills that will benefit them both in and out of the classroom.

What Parents of Our Students Say

The most rewarding moments are testimonials from parents and their children. We are very proud and grateful to be part of their children's learning journey, but also deeply honored to enjoy parent's trust and celebrate their children's success!

" At codethatidea, my 8-year-old son has constantly attended the introductory Scratch training and the experience was awesome. He has been enthusiastic to learn right from the start. The program as it is structured is so engaging hence keeping him waiting for the next class.

He usually rushes home to share new ideas and displays his projects with pride. The learning journey has been made very successful by the instructor who is very caring and passionate.

Thank you, codethatidea for sparking the love of coding in him and promoting curiosity. "

"Our two children have been attending the coding classes at Code That Idea for the last 6 months. They learned how to create simple animations, stories and games in Scratch. Each lesson introduces new coding blocks in a simple and creative way. Kids already understand major programming concepts such as loops, conditions, variables and functions. We’re really happy with the progress children have made.

What truly sets these classes apart is the supportive and engaging environment. The teacher makes sure that all questions are answered. We also appreciate additional material including brain exercises as well as guidance about online privacy and safety. "
